I’m running Linux Mint 20.2 Cinnamon on a laptop I got from Think Penguin. . . Is there a way to turn on/off the keyboard backlight?

On mine, i hold down the fn key then hit f3 to dim the keyboard, f4 to brighten it. But I do not have the same keyboard tho. Same process for the display brightness f5 to darken, f6 to brighten it.
This is an old thread, but anyone running into this same problem might want to use the Function key in combination with the spacebar.
