I’m slowly getting back into IT now that my kids are getting older.

I started on a Commodore VIC20 in the eighties and spent over twenty years in the field, and I’ve done everything from DOS, to Windows [which I’ve sworn off of], to Linux. I’ve set up network hardware and software, and I’ve hosted domains and websites.

Being away from tech for the past eight years has gotten me embarrassingly rusty. However as of writing this [2021.Feb] I’ve spent the past month getting caught back up and I am ‘fascinated’ by what’s happened in the world of virtualization and hypervisors

I used to live, eat, and breathe tech. But now I see it as only a tool; a fascinating and at times captivating tool, but yes a tool. I put living breathing human beings above technology now. That might seem like a no-brainer but you didn’t know me twenty years ago.

I’m squeezing my IT relearning in between being the best father and husband I can be so It’ll take me a few more weeks to get as deft behind the command line as I’d like to. And after that immediate goal I’ll get adept at RSYNC, organize some long neglected file organization, clear off an old laptop, and install Proxmox on it to get familiar with that.

Those are my immediate goals anyhow … May God barak you all !
