Hello,
I have a Macbook air from 2013, pretty old, so I thought to give it a second life. It doesn’t have much value data in the machine, so I decide to directly go wipe it out and install Pop!_OS.
I did all the settings according to one of the videos from LearnLinux TV channel, but now I couldn’t even see the WFI option under the ‘network’ system settings…what should I do?
Thanks so much!!
Oh, little more info,
I run the lspci command, my WIFI card is Broadcom, code is [14e4:43a0]
And…this laptop doesn’t have Ethernet port adapter…so is it possible to install the driver without any network on the machine?
You need to activate the non-free package mirrors because the kernel blobs for the Broadcom wifi adapters are proprietary and require code that isn’t in or hasn’t been made freely available.
I would open up Pop Shop with an Ethernet cable connected and see if it offers a driver package there. Broadcom has had a history of being problematic, but they’ve actually improved lately. Older cards will still be problematic, but usually it’s not too hard. Hopefully it’ll be offered in Pop Shop.
