I’m interested which linux distro you guys use as a daily drive:)

I started off on Bazzite and found there were some things I wanted to do that I couldn’t because of Bazzite being immutable so went with Fedora as I had had a pretty good experience with Bazzite so thought I would get a similar experience with Fedora.

Bazzite was definitely more beginner friendly out of the box with everything just working while Fedora was by no means hard or broken I just had to do a little more (installs some codecs) to get it to the same as Bazzite was out of the box.

For a new person like myself I would have no problems recommending Bazzite as a daily driver for general computing (web, documents, videos and games).

I am running Ubuntu 26.04 on my primary desktop and Pop!OS on my laptop. I started with Raspian since a Pi5 was my first device I owned with Linux. My work initially gave me a test workstation with Mint installed, but I only used it for a week or so while I waited for my Pi to show up. I put a Ubuntu VM on my windows desktop at home pretty quickly and used WSL for a while too. I was able to get a old Intel MacBook running with Ubuntu for a while but could never get the sound running 100% of the time. Once I had my Framework 13 laptop I ran Fedora on it before moving to Pop!OS. The main reason I choose Ubuntu is that I was having an issue with my Fedora and KDEPlasma freezing after installing my ARC GPU. Once I updated to Ubuntu 26.04, all the issues went away with my ARC GPU.

  • I have had a lot of fun setting up these systems and using LLM Anthropic and Gemini to help with problems and provide step by step solutions. I have gotten STEAM set up on 2 of the systems. I have been able to get Truecrypt, and VPN-UNLIMITED set up and working. I have gotten my 2 Google Drives set up in the file manager. I have gotten the 27" all-in-one touchscreen set up and working along with it’s Beats audio. AI was a tremendous help in all of this.

I am gathering the courage to set up System 2 with a lot of the EXTRAS, as a home server that will run

  • Docker

  • Jellyfin

  • possible CASAOS

  • pihole

  • Immach

  • fileserver for home network file sharing and backups of 7 systems we have currently running

Looking forward to the experience
