Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station randomly disconnects from monitor

Hi There!
I went ahead and purchased the:

Lenovo Thinkpad Thunderbolt 3 Docking Station (40AC0135US)

and am using it with a system76 laptop. Only issue is that the screen randomly discnnects and reconnects after about 5-10 seconds. This happens 10+ times a day and is really irritating.

Any idea what might be the issue? I looked at lenovo’s forumns and people mention to update the firmware maybe, but I am not sure if I can update the firmware on linux.

Could it be a faulty cable? I may try and buy a new one (if anyone has any recommendations for thunderbolt 3 cables, send my way)

Anyone else have this issue or solve it?

I’ve not personally had that problem. I think I did update the firmware when I first got mine, but it was so long ago that I don’t remember the process. I think I may have had a temporary Windows installation to do that, but I don’t remember for sure. But for me, it’s flawless, and the only difference I can think of between us is probably firmware.
