Odd thing on my Ubuntu 24.10 ms-01

Hi everyone,

This started happening a day or two ago… in the image below from btop, I started seeing this process latching onto a thread and running it at 100%. Insight into what this might be would be appreciated, or if you can point me to a resource that could help me properly diagnose this I again would greatly appreciate it.

Some system info:

Btop info, the processes I’m concerned about are at the top, especially the one using 4.9% of my CPU overall (process never releases the thread/core.

I’m afraid I don’t know much about this, but this thread over at LQ seems to have some useful tips:

Also, you can toggle the process view in btop to display it as a tree. Maybe it’s the fault of the parent process, or that might give you a better idea of what’s going on.

Well, nothing seemed to help (including the “solution”). I ended up doing a clean Ubuntu 25.04 install.
