Microsoft disabled Widevine DRM in Edge 143 for Linux

Hello everyone.

Has anyone using Microsoft Edge experienced playing content-protected videos from the likes of Amazon Prime or Netflix? My family member uses Microsoft Edge and I installed Edge from Flatpak using the Software program. I would rather not have to touch the terminal as the terminal is out of the question.

I tried using Warehouse (a software installed using the Software application) to revert Edge to 142, but Edge 142 refuses to open and I don’t know why, so I reverted Edge to 143 so my family member can use their Favorites (bookmarks) to go to websites without typing the URL. I switched my family member from Windows 10 to Linux Mint because of slowdowns due to unwanted software and my family member knows nothing about Linux. That’s why I said that the terminal is out of the question.

Having said all this, I advised my family member to switch to Chrome and watch protected DRM content from there until Microsoft resolves this situation and I am very upset with Microsoft for leaving my family member in the lurch which would then have to involve me to get this situation with protected DRM playback resolved. So now the issue with using Chrome to watch DRM content is resolved. And my family member is very upset with Microsoft as well. We want our computers to work, not break our computers in the process…

Does anyone have their own stories to tell when it comes to caring for another family member who knows nothing about Linux but got screwed over?
