Hello, May I ask for some help for I am not sure what to do. There may be a lesson on putting a Linux version on a hard drive from a jump drive, but i did not find it right off hand. I probably did not look in the right place. I am needing help with loading a Linux Ubuntu from jump drive to a hard drive that has Linux Mint on it and I would like to put Ubuntu 25.05 on the 160 gig hard drive. I get tired of messing up, for I can usually fix what I did wrong and I can usually get back to square one to start again. I am just getting wore out starting over again and again, for that is how we learn, but I thought I would ask fro some help if I can get some help with step by step instructions on how to do this task. Thank you for anyone that can help me. Thank you, mooseman
Hi mooseman,
Learnlinux.tv is the place to get help. After a quick search I found these videos that might help:

- How to Install Ubuntu 25.04 – Complete Step-by-Step Guide
You mentioned that you have Linux Mint on the hard drive already - do you need to preserve your user’s documents, picture files or the Mint installed applications?
I don’t think you can upgrade from Mint to Ubuntu - I would not even try. I would opt to erase the disk when the Ubuntu installer asks, and install a fresh Ubuntu. But first…
Use your web browser’s sync feature to get all your web shortcuts, cookies and passwords from the web browser on the Mint install to the Ubuntu web browser. Sign in to the web browser on Mint and enable sync. Later when you have Ubuntu working and installed the same browser, sign in and enable sync and the shortcuts (etc) will reappear.
Make a copy of your files elsewhere (to another jump drive) and write down list of the applications you are interested in keeping in Mint. Once Ubuntu is instlaled, copy/restore your data files to your user folders (Documents, Pictures etc) and reinstall the applications you need one at a time.
I hope that’s helpful? Good luck.
OK, thank you. I will try my best. Thank you
