Issues with mounting external USB hard drives

I am having problems mounting two external USB hard drives. First one is a Western Digital 4Tb. USB 3.0 drive and the other is a Seagate 8Tb. 3.5’“ drive mounted in a Sabrent Docking station. They show up in Disks and Devices but when I click on Mount i get the message that it is unable to access the drive. Both drives are formatted NTFS. Both drives are visible to terminal and Gparted.

My primary computer is an ASUS Zenbook 17” and my backup computer is an ASUS 14” Notebook. I get the same issue on both so I’m thinking that it’s not the laptop. I am using Kubuntu 24.04.3 and my system is up to date. I have already tried the ntfs-3g driver install. I have also tried sudo ntfsfix -b /dev/sda1

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried to mount the via cli? Use -v flag for verbose output.
