Anyone studying for their LPIC-01 Exams?

I am about 80% the way through the LPIC-01 Exam 1 prep, and I am wondering if there are others out there that are working on the same certification.

I might look at this again.

I took the test a couple of years ago and failed by one point. I was pissed, as the book I bought was supposed to prep for the entire exam, but there was a lot of material on the test that the book didn’t cover. Back then, there wasn’t a lot of study material.

I am using a book, the study material, Pro TecTV videos, and ALL of Jay’s videos on the contained subjects. I am putting my notes on stickie notes, and then organizing it all into a Study Notes repo on Git Hub. I also have a paper book study guide I am going to go through.

I hope this helps. If you want to work on it together, just let me know.

I studied for exam 101-500 using the Sybex book LPIC-1 Study Guide by Christine Breshnahan & Richard Blum.

I wouldn’t recommend any LPIC-1 books by either of those authors.

I thought about Linux+, but I don’t like the lack of follow-on certs like LPIC has.

As of right now, all of my cybersecurity certs have expired and I’m thinking about renewing those. I do more cybersecurity work than I do linux work these days.

Hi, great to see your progress. I am also on the same track. I recently cleared the 101-500 exam, which is the first part of LPIC-1, and now I am preparing for the 102-500 exam.

The first exam gave me a strong foundation in system architecture, package management, and file systems. Now, with the second part, I am focusing on topics like scripting, system services, networking, and security. It feels more advanced, but it also connects the basics in a useful way.

You are already 80% through Exam 1 prep, which is excellent. Once you finish it and move to Exam 2 which is the 102-500 exam, you will notice how both parts complete the picture for LPIC-1. Continue step by step, and be sure to practice daily on a Linux system. That hands-on time makes a big difference. Additionally, Pass4Future 102-500 practice exams made a huge difference in my LPIC Level 2 exam preparation.
