2 in 1 laptop screen rotation or lack thereof

My wife brought me a new laptop - Dell Inspiron 14 7415 2 in 1 with a Ryzen 7 5700U and 16GB RAM and though I would put Ubuntu on it and everything worked really well apart from the screen rotation - which fails to rotate - I have tried both 20.04.4 and 22.10 but I cannot get the screen to rotate when it into either A frame or tablet mode. I have also tried KDE Neon after reading that it could be a Gnome issue.

Has anyone got any ideas - as I would really like to put Linux on here but the rotation issue is going to be a deal breaker :frowning:

Do you mean automatic screen rotation? There’s an article here about it: Tablet PC - ArchWiki that should work for any distro.

There’s also this with a little script: Auto rotate screen on Dell 13 7000 with 15.04 (Gnome) - Ask Ubuntu

I hope one of them helps. :smiley_cat:

Yes, I mean the automatic screen rotation. Thanks for the links I’ll take a look at them at weekend.
